The other day I sent a simple outreach email asking a business owner if they were looking to grow in the US. The reply?
“You couldn’t pay me enough to do business in the US with that moron in the Whitehouse and his band of under qualified idiots.”
I’m not here to argue politics and thankfully, neither are the thousands of companies quietly making an absolute fortune in the US market every year.
Yes, doing business in America can seem intimidating. Tariffs can pop up, rules change, and administrations come and go. But here's the reality:
The US is the largest consumer market in the world, with over 330 million people.
That’s nearly 13 times the population of Australia.
In dollar terms, the average American spends twice as much on discretionary goods and services as the average Australian.
Even with tariffs or red tape, the reward can dwarf the hassle (if you're strategic).
Sure, it’s not always easy. But growth never is.
So if someone doesn’t want to do business in the US because of who's currently in the White House, that’s their call. But let’s be honest: that’s not a business decision, it’s a personal one. And in business, personal feelings don’t pay the bills.
At G’day Gateway, we’ve helped Aussie companies generate hundreds of thousands in US sales by focusing on one thing: demand. Politics aside, we just focus on how you can grow your business and have a slice of the pie that is the US economy.
And if you don't like money, that’s fine.
But if you do, and you're ready to think bigger than Australia’s borders then the US isn’t a risk. It's an opportunity waiting.
