From Helping My Dad Break into the US Market to Helping Aussie Businesses Nationwide

I'm Ben, G'day Gateway's CEO and founder.
Before launching the business, I was on the ground helping Nichol Industries, my Dad's (above) Australian manufacturing business , with market entry into the US.
The family business was started by my grandfather, Barry, in the 1950s and I wanted to keep the legacy alive. So I called my Dad, Adam, up one day and said "I'm ready to help!".
I started by selling his signature product, the Trakatag metal tag embossing machine (below). The machine feeds metal through and marks whatever information the customer wants on it, punches a hole and turns it into a metal tag - often used by manufacturing companies that tie them to their products for tracking purposes. It's basically a really, really fancy dog tag machine.
If their was a niche market to start with, I found it.
I sifted through steel organisations and contacted their members, cold called thousands of companies and sent hundreds of samples of metal tags across the country.

It was a lot of work, and I learned a lot of hard lessons along the way, and got hung up on too many times to count, but it paid off.
Within the first year, we brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales, all without a US office, without hiring an (expensive, given the exchange rate) US sales team, and without the anyone from Australia having to relocate.
How?
I set up a dedicated local phone line and answered US customer calls in real time
Followed up leads within minutes, not days
Set up a local business address to gain local trust
Helped tailor messaging to American expectations
Acted as my Dad's US sales presence and trusted local contact
It worked because I understood both sides, the Australian business mindset and the American customer’s expectations. That blend of cultural fluency and hands-on hustle is what led me to turn this experience into a full-service offering.
Breaking into the US market is exciting, but it’s also brutally unforgiving if you’re not prepared.
As an Aussie, I’ve seen far too many quality businesses launch into America only to be met with silence, missed opportunities, or complete misreads of what the US market actually expects.
That’s exactly why I started G’day Gateway.
Now I'm ready to give other your business the same advantage.
Whether you need a US phone number answered professionally, consultation, lead follow-up, or full business representation, we’re here to help you expand without overstretching.
